Los Alamos National Laboratory Work Control Planner 3 in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
This posting will be used to fill two positions available in support of to the Radiological Laboratory Utility Office Building (RLUOB), and the Radiological Liquid Waste Facility (RLW).
Use your technical skills to develop work control plans.
As a Work Control Planner 3, you will be considered a senior planner responsible for developing and/or reviewing preventive maintenance work packages including time, material, and labor estimates; writing step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations and maintenance work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological equipment and their policies and procedures; and resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
As a Work Control Planner 3, you will need to demonstrate in-depth ability and skill in developing detailed step-by-step work instructions for equipment and/or systemmodifications and corrective maintenance work packages for activities wi thin nuclear facilities in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
Accordingly, you will need to/have:
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret mechanical, electrical, and plumbing documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics; knowledge of site development, electrical and mechanical systems, building codes, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) codes and standards; and in-depth knowledge and ability identifying work related hazards, and working with safety programs.
In-depth experience in coordinating and planning modification and/or corrective maintenance work orders; developing integrated work documents (IWDs) that reflect hazards/controls and work steps associated with modification and/or corrective maintenance work activities; and being able to effectively communicate and report on major elements of infrastructure and site planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Thorough knowledge and experience applying principles and methods of multiple disciplines including construction and facility maintenance to disciplines such as procurement, planning, scheduling, and cost/budget control; experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on complex problems and projects
Demonstrated ability to use a computerized work management system is maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, postgraduate course work may be desirable.
Extensive experience of facility support equipment (such as HVAC, Compressor, Boiler, Electrical Distribution, etc.).
Familiarity with the use of Asset Suites and Mobile Work Package (MWP).
Working and/or planning within a Nuclear Facility

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
