Los Alamos National Laboratory Training Coordinator 3 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

This position is located at the Nevada National Security Site and requires living in the Las Vegas, Nevada area.

Exciting opportunity for a Training Coordinator 3 to support the Joint Laboratory Office- Nevada (JLON) at the Nevada National Security Site! Working in this position you will act as abridge for training between the Nuclear Weapons Laboratories (NWL) s, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) with Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS) on behalf of NWL workers. As a Training Coordinator supporting JLON you will spend your days in a highly interactive and cooperative environment, with day-to-day duties which meet the NWLs training requirements and the administrative needs of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), these will include:

  • Ensuring (MSTS) ATOM, (LANL) UTrain and (LLNL) L-Train data match

  • Ensuring LANL and LLNL staff, along with their managers, know what training is needed prior to starting work at the NNSS

  • Ensuring managers know who is authorized to perform work and who is not

  • Integrating with LANL and LLNL staff conducting operations at NNSS to ensure training needs are identified and communicated

  • Developing Desktop Guides for common Training Coordinator tasks and projects

  • Developing and maintaining training plans

To be successful you should be a detail oriented, highly motivated and customer service focused individual; comfortable working across multiple stakeholder groups, building collaborative relationships, coordinating with peers, and collaborating with others. You will also demonstrate good judgment in selecting techniques for obtaining solutions working without considerable direction. As a LANL employee, your line manager will reside at LANL. However, this assignment requires you to be deployed to the Joint Laboratory Office-Nevada (JLON) and therefore your day-to-day duty assignments will come from the JLON managers (LANL and /or LLNL).

This posting is under the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Engineering (ALDW).

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Administrative Training Support, Organization and Planning

Experience with monitoring, and evaluating training including developing metrics, data gathering and analysis, trending, tracking, and reporting. Demonstrated excellence in organization and planning skills with close attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Customer Service/Communication

Demonstrated experience providing quality customer service and providing clear, concise support and guidance, and a record of dealing effectively with conflict. Proven ability to provide a high level of organization and commitment to providing consistency to all customers. Demonstrated problem-solving skills while navigating a solution to customer requests and anticipating needs and going the extra mile. Ability to innovate and provide self-direction to provide preemptive solutions to potential challenges is also required.

Business Systems

Proficient in the MS Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Word) and shared business systems (example: Learning Management Systems, Oracle, Google Drive, etc.) and has demonstrated experience in a training and development environment. Comprehensive knowledge of a Learning Management System and/or other database and a high level of technical knowledge and expertise, as it relates to training.

Education/Experience: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 4 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Laboratory objectives and applicable policy/practice/procedures.

  • Knowledge of DOE orders and standards pertaining to training.

  • Working knowledge as a proctor for required institutional exams; provide Lab-wide training services utilizing UTrain (Learning Management System).

  • Working knowledge of standard software applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint). Ability to quickly learn and adapt to use of LANL business systems (Outlook, ACCESS, Oracle, UTrain, ATOM etc.).

  • Working knowledge of common audio-visual and office equipment.

  • Working knowledge of the ATOM and UTrain LMS, and Worker Qualification and Authorization System (WQAS) to track worker training.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
