Join our world‐class team at one of the largest libraries in the Federal Government! The National Security Research Center (NSRC) is Los Alamos National Laboratory’s classified library. The NSRC’s lineage dates back to 1943 when it was formed as part of the Manhattan Project. Now is your chance to make a difference in supporting our national security mission. The NSRC is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our team as we strengthen the internal processes and services offered to our customers across a broad range of technical and non-technical projects. Our work enables code developers, weapons designers, engineers, and experimenters to certify the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile and investigate national and global security questions.
The successful TPM will work with internal and external stakeholders to improve our internal processes, manage technical and non-technical projects, and lead new initiatives to incorporate new technologies into our technical library. The TPM will help identify which processes need to be improved, then organize and lead teams to analyze the current processes and develop recommendations on how to improve those processes. Additionally, the TPM will develop workflow-level as well as management-level metrics. The TPM will work with various organizations and managers and play a vital role in the implementation of NSRC initiatives by tracking programmatic tasks and providing reports on deliverables and milestone statuses for the NSRC’s projects and process improvement events.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
For this role, you will need experience utilizing project management principles, including developing project plans, work breakdown structures, and work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions. This includes the ability to manage the execution of project plans under strict/competing deadlines with changing priorities, and excellent attention to detail and organization skills. You must have experience in developing workflow-level metrics and management-level metrics, as well as experience in leading Lean Six Sigma process improvement teams. Including experience handling sensitive situations, using sound and independent judgement.
At this level, you must have the ability or experience in establishing information technology (IT) technical requirements, negotiating and defining IT deliverables, budgets, and schedules in accordance with project requirements. You will also need experience implementing new software and hardware systems; and experience with business processes such as budgeting, planning, scheduling, marketing, data collection, and analysis.
To succeed in this position you must have experience in successfully working with internal and external stakeholders. It is essential that you have the ability to serve as the primary interface between customers, executing organizations, and line management for projects. This includes the ability to, or experience interacting effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts. You must have experience developing clear, concise, and informative reports, presentations, correspondence, and other written materials. Finally, you must have experience providing excellent customer‐focused communication and interpersonal skills.
Current Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or other process improvement certification is desired
Current Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is desired
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is preferred for this level. A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or IT is desired.
Experience as a team leader
Experience leading IT projects
Experience working on classified networks
Experience tracking executi on and budgets on small projects (<$1M)
Demonstrated ability to create memorable and concise communicati ons for funding customers as well as for consumers of the division’s services.
Experience assisti ng with the movement of software tools from the unclassified to the classified environment.

for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
