Los Alamos National Laboratory Surveillance System App Administrator (Network Professional 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The selected candidate will be working with the Specialized IP Services team responsible for the design, engineering, and operations of the Laboratory's next-generation Voice, Surveillance, and Digital signage systems.

The Camera Video Surveillance system is a centralized camera monitoring system for various locations across the laboratory campus. The Surveillance System Application Administrator will be responsible for;

  • Establishing and managing the communications between the content server and cameras.

  • Working with the system administrator on system/server patching.

  • Working with engineering for next-level support.

  • Assisting LANL organizations with triage of content.

The Selected candidate will have the opportunity to cross-train and learn the Voice over IP deployment which is based on Broadsoft Broadworks application software, Acme Packet Session Border Controllers, Zervina Enhanced Device Management, Genband VoIP based high-density Analog gateways, and AudioCodes voice gateways using standards-based protocols.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Customer service experience.

  • Knowledge of video streaming services.

  • Experience with administrating web services servers.

  • Experience with document management for standard operating procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Experience implementing designs provided by engineering.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills with an ability to work with all levels of management, cyber security personnel, and customers.

Network Professional 2 position typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, applicable advanced vendor and/or professional certification is desirable.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of video surveillance systems.

  • Knowledge of IP video cameras.

  • Experience with Voice over IP telephone systems.

  • Knowledge of Windows-based applications.

  • Demonstrated experience with process development, delivery, and training.

  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • Demonstrated experience with process development, delivery, and training.

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion.Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
