Los Alamos National Laboratory Spectroscopy, Chemistry, or Materials Scientist Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do Chemistry Division’s Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy Group (C-PCS) addresses national and international problems by exploiting the measurement and diagnostic power of light, which is the fastest clock and the smallest ruler. We work with a diverse range of customers to execute research projects which span basic R&D and device creation through application and deployment of systems and methods for applied missions. C-PCS consists of five teams: Remote Sensing Applications; Thermal Kinetics and Dynamics; Nanotechnology and Advanced Spectroscopy; Terrestrial, Atmosphere and Space Science; and Chemistry for Biomedical Applications.

The Remote Sensing Applications and Chemistry for Biomedical Applications teams currently have an opening for a Post-Doctoral Researcher to assist in the execution of DOE and NIH projects. The successful candidate will join these teams and work with existing team members in executing current programs, while also seeking out new opportunities to develop an independent career of their own.

C-PCS seeks to hire a Post-Doctoral research scientist in experimental research and development that can contribute to several spectroscopy and remote sensing projects. In addition, the successful candidate would have a high level of proficiency in chemical and physical experimentation, data gathering, data reduction, and evaluation. The employee will be required to work with commercial and custom instrumentation, lasers and optics, in a chemical and potentially explosive, radiological or biochemical laboratory environment. The candidate will also be expected to maintain a safe work environment that includes all the formalities of LANL’s integrated work management system.
