Los Alamos National Laboratory Space Plasma Physics in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Applications are invited for one or more immediate postdoc openings in space plasma physics. We seek candidates with background in space physics, fluids dynamics, plasma physics, astrophysics, and other relevant fields. The immediate projects include the dynamics of shocks and the associated particle acceleration, ionization/neutralization processes including charge exchange, pickup ion generated instabilities and wave-particle interaction, and the acceleration of particles in solar flares. The group has a strong interest in space and astrophysical plasma processes including energetic particle acceleration and transport, shocks, magnetic reconnection, t urbulence and plasma instabilities.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Experience in space physics, fluid dynamics, plasma physics, astrophysics, or other relevant fields. Experience in theoretical and computational plasma physics.
Education/Experience :PhD in related fields completed within the past five years or soon to be completed.
- Experience in theoretical and computational plasma physics, especially plasma kinetic and magnetohydrodynamic simulations. Successful candidates are encouraged to collaborate on current projects carried out at LANL, and will be encouraged to develop their own research programs.
