What You Will Do

The Space Data Science and Systems Group (ISR-3) is an integral part of the Intelligence and Space Research (ISR) Division, and has core capabilities in software development, algorithm design, data exploitation, systems development, systems integration, and mission operations. It is primarily responsible for the design and implementation of complex systems in secure and open environments in support of data acquisition and telemetry systems, large-scale data storage and archive, embedded systems, real-time control systems, computer-aided design, scientific programming and computing, high-performance computing, reconfigurable computing, machine learning, data exploitation, data product delivery, and distributed sensor networks.

The Data Science team in ISR-3 develops algorithms for data-driven modeling of images and signals with applications including pattern recognition and signal detection. Data sources of interest include: multispectral and hyperspectral remote sensing imagery, seismic and vibration measurements, full motion video, radiofrequency (RF) time series signals, digitized text, and sensor data.

Candidates for this Postdoctoral Associate position on the Data Science team should have a strong mathematical and computational background in the areas of machine learning, graph theory, signal processing, practical technical programming experience, and an enthusiasm for creative problem solving. The selected candidate will primarily work on a strongly mission-aligned programmatic project in multisensor fusion and analysis for nuclear proliferation detection. Candidates must have their PhD awarded less than five years before application to this position.

  • Willingness to expand into new fields

  • Ability to obtain security clearance

  • Desired Skills:

  • Experience with multi-sensor data fusion, computer vision, and/or software engineering

  • Current Q clearance


  • PhD in mathematics, computer science or related field.

Postdoctoral Researcher: Competitive salaries are based on the date the PhD degree requirements were completed or the degree was awarded.
