Los Alamos National Laboratory Security Tool Developer (Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The selected candidate will be a security tool developer on the NIE-ESS Security Applications team, which is responsible vulnerability scanning and mitigation, security tool development and support, and security information management. The responsibilities of this position include the following:
Identify and solve non-traditional, non-standard problems not easily fixed with off the shelf software and solutions.
Collaborate with the team to design, develop, modify, and debug cybersecurity applications.
Support vulnerability scanning operations and the cyber security tool infrastructure.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Thorough understanding of the cyber security environment, including network and host system security issues, compliance, and certification.
Thorough understanding and experience with software programming, Python, and scripting languages;
Thorough understanding and experience with one or more of the following:
Web Design/Development, writing HTML/CSS/JS or using web programming frameworks;
Debugging, trouble-shooting, and diagnosing problems;
Writing regular expressions;
Automating analysis with Python, or similar languages;
Vulnerability detection and mitigation;
Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and teaming skills
Education/Experience: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Django and Bootstrap;
Vulnerability scanners such as Netsparker and Nessus;
Developing vulnerability programs around tools similar to Nmap, MassScan, and Nessus;
Tool integration and event correlation with differing API’s.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
