What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Information Specialist 1/2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Document Control and Records Management Group is seeking a highly motivated individual to support the Institutional Records Management program, ensuring records of Laboratory activities are preserved. The selected candidate will work within a team ensuring compliance with Department of Energy and Laboratory requirements regarding records submittal, receipt, transfer, storage, retrieval, usage, and disposition; the candidate will serve as a steward to protect the corporate memory of the Laboratory.
The successful candidate must be results and performance oriented with a track record of dependability, adaptability, and strong customer service skills. The candidate must be highly motivated and able to excel in a dynamic environment.
Information Specialist 1 $53,500 - $82,800
The Information Specialist 1 will be responsible for supporting the operation of the Laboratory’s institutional Records Center and providing Records Management knowledge to Laboratory personnel. Day-to-day work activities include processing incoming records, identifying applicable retention schedules, retrieving records as requested by customers, populating metadata into the Electronic Records Management System (ERMS), and preparing records for transfer to off-site storage locations. Additionally the Information Specialist 1 will execute records management support functions, such as scanning and indexing of records and will provide guidance and recommendations to customer organizations on procedures and processes. This position will work in a classified environment and will ensure compliance with applicable requirements and standards.
Processing programmatic and operations documents and records
Identifying and applying retention policy to records
Coordinating the release of information and/or records in accordance with established procedures
Utilizing and populating the Electronic Records Management System (ERMS)
Providing customer support for ERMS and other DCRM applications
Ensuring compliance with applicable requirements and standards
Providing guidance and recommendations to customer organizations on procedures and processes
Work in a classified environment
Execute records management support functions, such as scanning and indexing of records
Information Specialist 2 $64,400 - $102,300
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the Information Specialist 2 will share existing records management expertise with SI-DCRM colleagues and Laboratory personnel wherein they will be able to not only perform the required duties but also contribute to refinement and development of policies and procedures. With the support of the Team Leader, this position will take the lead on select tasks and procedures.

Experience and demonstrated skill identifying, organizing, and coding record materials, etc.

Ability to develop detailed instructions or procedures.
Ability to conduct research and use expertise to recommend solutions to issues or problems.

Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, or experience.
Education/Experience at higher level : Position requires a minimum 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education, certification, or experience directly related to the occupation.

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Q Clearance. (Position will be cleared to this level). This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Developing or applied fundamental knowledge of the Department of Energy (DOE) records management schedules.
Working knowledge of the Laboratory's records management policies, practices, and procedures.
A basic understanding of database systems and Structured Query Language (SQL) or similar queries.
Active Q clearance.
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos.
