What You Will Do
The US Isotope Programwithin LANL Chemistry Division develops isotope products and regularly produces and purifies radionuclides for a wide application spectrum in industry and research. It also has a strong radioisotope chemistry R&D mission. We are seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral position in radiochemistry to perform laboratory research involving the production and purification of accelerator‐ formed radioisotopes and short‐lived actinide isotopes. The successful candidate will be joining a team of chemists and physicists to conduct research and development on new radionuclide products.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Sound academic training in separation chemistry or analytical chemistry
Proven ability to meet research deliverables and deadlines
Willingness to work with high dose rate materials
Demonstrated ability to carry out independent and collaborative research, as evidenced by at least two first‐author papers submitted to or published in peer‐reviewed journals
Strong technical and interpersonal communication and language skills both orally and in writing
Creative and proactive approach to scientific problem solving
Proven ability to meet research deliverables and deadline
Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary research team
Experience in one or more additional discipline(s): synthetic inorganic or synthetic organic chemistry, nuclear physics
Experience in hot cell operations and telemanipulator handling
Experience in nuclear reaction, DFT or quantum mechanical modelling
Experience with data analysis using software tools such as IDL or MATLAB.
Proven contributions to successful research proposals
Education: PhD in chemistry or related field completed within the past five years or soon to be completed. Must be completed before hiring.
