Los Alamos National Laboratory Quantum Computation and Quantum Information Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking postdoctoral researchers to work both independently and in a team environment on numerous aspects of quantum computing, quantum information, and quantum machine learning. The research will concentrate on noisy, intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) computers and their applications. The positions provide opportunity to perform fundamental research on limitations of noisy quantum computers as well as their possible use in diverse fields such as condensed matter physics, quantum chemistry and machine learning.
The successful candidate will be expected to
develop noise-resilient algorithms for NISQ computers and theoretical tools to study how noise affects the computation on those computers
develop techniques for exploiting near-term quantum computing such as quantum neural networks and identify applications that benefit from quantum advantage
communicate research results through reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a PhD or equivalent in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university(completed within the last 5 years). The candidate must demonstrate substantial research experience in one or more of the fields of quantum information, quantum algorithms, condensed-matter physics, quantum chemistry, simulation of quantum systems and machine learning. The successful candidate must be able to produce high quality research, as evidenced by past publications, reports, presentations, awards, etc. Preference will be given to candidates with strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Note to Applicants:
-Please include a curriculum vitae with a publication list - preferably with citation counts - and a detailed cover letter (guideline: 1–2 pages) that describes your research interests and qualifications.
