Reporting to the Group Leader of Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance, the Quality Assurance Team Leader will be responsible for oversite of Contractor Assurance System (CAS) integration through deployed staff; performance planning and risk analysis; issues management and event notification; and the accurate development of metrics, trends, and analyses. With an overall focus on improving mission delivery, the Quality Assurance Team Leader will have a span of control that stretches across all major areas of the Laboratory, including Science, Technology, and Engineering; Weapons; and Operations.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Contractor Assurance Systems (CAS)
Demonstrated experience exerting influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of an organization related to CAS, including experience in the development and performance oversight of policies, procedures, and the systems required for maintaining and enhancing Quality and Performance Assurance initiatives.
Assessments and Benchmarking
Demonstrated experience using performance measures, assessments, and internal and/or external benchmarks from private or public sectors to manage issues or corrective actions where erroneous decisions or recommendations could have resulted in critical delays or modifications to projects/operations with potentially negative impacts to short-term goals and future business activities.
Demonstrated experience successfully interacting with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers involving matters related to quality and/or contractor assurance, including the demonstrated ability to advise and coach customers while promoting continuous improvements within a learning environment.
Integrated Safety Management (ISM)
Demonstrated experience performing as an advisor to subordinate supervisors or staff members and leading cooperative efforts of project teams related to ISM or similar principles, including experience integrating safety into every task; pausing/stopping work when necessary; modeling exemplary behavior; fostering open communications; engaging workers in the field; rewarding positive behavior; and addressing deficiencies through accountability.
Supervision and Leadership
Demonstrated experience managing the activities of individual contributors or supervisors in a section or department with accountability for results in terms of costs, strategies, and employees. Ability to analyze, and solve complex procurement problems. Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.
Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Manufacturing Management, or a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Additional Education and Certification
Master’s degree in a related field and/or current professional certification as a Certified Quality Management/Organizational Excellence professional (AQS or CQE).
Complex Technical Organizations
Knowledge of and experience deploying integrated organizational-level performance-based management systems in large, diverse, and/or complex scientific, engineering, and/or technical organizations.
Clearance Active DOE “Q” or other Top Secret clearance.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
