What You Will Do

The selected candidate will participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications contributing to the overall objective of sustaining an effective engineering, procurement, and construction Quality Management System. The individual will participate in nonconformance reporting and corrective action processes. The selected candidate will lead, coordinate, and/or conduct audits and surveillance of quality-affecting engineering, procurement, construction, and ancillary project work. The selected candidate will take day-to-day direction from an assigned, sub-project specific QA Lead.

The selected candidate will report directly to the QPA-IQ Project Execution Team Leader and will be deployed to support the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement (CMRR) project. On project, the selected candidate reports directly to the CMRR QA Program Manager; however, at times will assist GPP/SM Projects with the activities relating to Nonconformance Reports and Issues Management.

The selected candidate will be expected to review and assist in preparing procurement documentation germane to quality assurance and quality engineering requirements.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, ASME NQA-1—2008/ASME NQA-1a-2009 Addenda, NAP-24, and/or U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent.

  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas and associated tools: assessments; lessons learned; risk characterization; and issues and corrective actions management.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with quality concepts and principles and how these are applied.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and supporting quality assessments, surveillances, and/or audits.

  • Experience with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Issues Management.

  • Working knowledge and experience developing and tracking corrective actions to completion in a structured system.

  • Experienced in preparing and presenting reports.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to include demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of customers and management.

  • Current or previous Lead Auditor certified and/or recognized as a Certified Quality Auditor from a recognized professional organization such as American Society for Quality.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of quality assurance (QA) procedures for review, approval, and issues in accordance with approved Laboratory procedures.

  • Experience with various types of Access databases.

  • A high level of personal motivation and standards along with the ability to work within changing situations to meet deadlines.

Education: This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in quality or engineering, plus 3 years of related professional work experience, or a minimum of 5 years of experience.

The IQ mission is to integrate quality requirements into processes, validate that policies and programs meet regulatory and customer requirements and expectations, and develop/manage electronic systems to support the QPA division institutional programs.
