Los Alamos National Laboratory QPA Specialist 2 – Nonconformance Reporting Coordinator/Issues Management Coordinator (NCRC/IMC) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
This position is based in the Quality Support Services (IQPA-QSS) group and reports to the IQPA-QSS group leader. The QSS mission is to support Institutional Programs and Projects to ensure quality requirements are met and implemented into processes by performing oversight and inspection activities to validate that specifications are being adhered to during construction, maintenance and modification activities at LANL. The selected candidate will be assigned to support both ALDPI and ALDCP activities.
The selected candidate will participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications contributing to the overall objective of sustaining effective nonconformance reporting and corrective action processes. The selected candidate will coordinate, and/or conduct audits and surveillance as an auditor, of quality-affecting engineering, procurement, construction, and ancillary project work.
T he selected candidate will create or use formal networks involving coordination among groups and other key decision makers. Regular contacts with other resources internal and external to the IQPA organization are typical to successfully execute responsibilities. Assignments are often self-initiated. The candidate is virtually self-supervisory, and uses independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives, while ensuring that Quality Management is apprised of issues that require a broader base of involvement to determine the most effective and value added methods to evaluate and close issues and NCR’s. The candidate uses wide latitude in the methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, ASME NQA-1—2008/ASME NQA-1a-2009 Addenda, NAP-401.1, and/or U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent.
Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas and associated tools: assessments; lessons learned; risk characterization; and issues and corrective actions management.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with quality concepts and principles and how these are applied.
Demonstrated experience supporting quality assessments, surveillances, and/or audits.
Experience with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Issues Management.
Working knowledge and experience developing and tracking corrective actions to completion in a structured system.
Experienced in preparing and presenting reports.
Strong oral and written communication skills to include demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of customers and management.
Education/Experience :Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or combination of technical certification and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Demonstrated experience in the use and preparation Corrective Action Systems and tracking of required actions designed to close and enhance of quality assurance (QA) procedures for review, approval, and issues in accordance with approved Laboratory procedures.
Experience with various types of Access databases or iLink tools.
Experience in causal analysis, cause code assignments, and portraying information of Senior Level presentations.
A high level of personal motivation and standards along with the ability to work within changing situations to meet deadlines.
Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. Employee participation in the Telework Pilot may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
