Los Alamos National Laboratory Project Controls Undergraduate Student in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
This position will be filled at the student intern level within Capital Projects, Project Controls Group.
We are seeking motivated, hard-working student interns to join the Project Controls Group. The Project Controls Group reports to the Program Performance Services Division within the Capital Projects Associate Laboratory Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Project Controls Group (PPS-PC) has over 200 employees deployed across the Laboratory performing project controls functions for weapons programs, science programs and capital projects.
In this entry-level position, you willprovides project controls support including schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities, as directed. Performs cost estimating, analysis, and cost control activities, as directed. Support cost engineering and/or planning and scheduling activities, for a variety of projects large and small across the Laboratory.
The position is located in Los Alamos, NM.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
· Inquisitive, self-starter with an interest in development and innovating around collaboration
· Experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel and/or Visio
· Familiar with database management systems
· Experience interacting with all levels of personnel in a professional environment
· Experience interacting with customers in a customer service/schedule driven work environment
· Ability to work independently, organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines.
· Ability to work on multiple projects with frequent interruptions, varying priorities and deadlines while maintaining excellent quality in daily work.
· Strong communication skills.
Training/Certifications: As an intern, this position does not require certifications.
Education/Experience: Current full-time enrollment in coursework at a college level and maintains a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Basic understanding of budget analysis and cost control activities.
Basic knowledge of construction development or business management practices.
Experience handling sensitive information, such as medical or bank records.
Experience giving presentations to a variety of audiences.
