What You Will Do
The ISR-5 Space Instrument Realization Group performs a number of project controls tasks during the development of numerous satellite instrument programs. The Intelligence & Space Research (ISR) Division seeks a Project Controls Specialist to join a significant effort in Satellite‐based Nuclear Detonation Detection (SNDD) programs. The successful candidate will provide project controls support to a cross section of the projects within SNDD. They will be responsible for direct interactions with Project Leaders, Program Managers and Line Managers at LANL. They will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing established program measurement baselines with regard to scope, schedule and cost. They will also be responsible for supporting the monthly reporting requirements put forth by the NNSA and the SNDD Program Office including schedule progress, cost analysis, as well as exercising baseline change control.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience in resource estimating, statistical analysis, schedule development and monitoring, schedule performance reporting, report writing, and computer operations
Demonstrated experience in support of all aspects of project management, including defining and managing to technical work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities and performance
Knowledge and proven ability in formulating and presenting results and project information to technical and programmatic customers
Must have good oral and written communication skills
Experience with scheduling software such as P6 or MS Project
Expertise with Microsoft Excel
Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which normally requires U.S. Citizenship
Skilled in understanding technical processes, engineering drawings, and financial reports
Demonstrated experience in project management
Expertise in LANL financial systems (ORACLE)
Experience in large space programs
Experience with project life cycles
Active Q Clearance
Education: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.
The Space Instrument Realization Group (ISR-5) in the Intelligence & Space Research Division provides engineering and technical expertise to support the development and deployment of space-based custom instrumentation for national security applications. The Group consists of approximately 50 engineers, designers and technicians (electrical and mechanical) teaming across several ISR Division projects.
