The Operational Readiness Implementation Division (ORI-DO) is seeking a highly motivated supervisor to support a small team of highly motivated individuals within the Training & Mission Services group (ORI-1) Programmatic Training function. The primary core tasks will support the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP) operational divisions with day-to-day oversight of a variety of hands-on and virtual training activities within the Programmatic Training model, which includes DOE O 426.2 qualified/certified positions and NAP 401.1 Weapon Quality training programs.
The Manufacturing Manager 1 will report to the Programmatic Training First Line Manager (FLM) and ORI-1 Group Leader. The selected individual will provide direct supervision and leadership of the Pit Flowsheet training support function. The chosen candidate will have the responsibility, authority and accountability to execute work that supports training milestones and deliverables while setting the standards and example for utmost professional behavior and operational effectiveness. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning, organizing, and defining tactical objectives for successful training outcomes.
Monitoring scope and schedule and establishing day-to-day protocol for planned training activities.
Delivering quality training products and/or services; enforcing adherence to performance standards; achieving the balance between the need to meet both productivity goals and quality standards.
Directing and/or overseeing the execution training events safely, securely, with quality, and in compliance with nuclear facility requirements.
Performing direct daily oversight of work, workers and the training environment; filling in for tactical work tasks as needed and taking on strategic projects to achieve process improvements as assigned.
Ensuring concise, consistent communications with line management reporting on training status, deliverables and commitments.
Implementing efficient time management skills and the ability to deal effectively with changing priorities and conflicting demands.
Motivating employees to work as a team in accomplishing objectives, including mentoring and inspiring peers.
Applying training analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation expertise within assigned scope and/or subject-matter-expert (SME) area(s).
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership: Experience in supervising multidisciplinary teams of in a technical and virtual environment.Ability to provide professional-level leadership supervising, resolving conflicts, mentoring, team building, motivating employees, and developing personnel such as students and/or early career training staff.
Knowledge and Expertise: Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing training-related scope and coordinating activities. Experience with planning for and managing tactical execution of work; tracking and reporting progress, specifically in the area of training execution.Ability to set the example and effectively “train-the-trainer,” especially in the areas of analysis, design, development of ALDWP programmatic training products, processes and initiatives.
Accountability: Experience working with confidential or proprietary information, classified documents or sensitive information, including PII training records. Accountable for ensuring a full training staff is available to support Pit production activities at all times.
Communication: Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, seminars, briefings, presentations, and publications; effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers.
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
DOE O 426.2: Requires a High School Diploma and 3 years nuclear experience. Full-time related academic training (e.g., degree programs, trade schools, vocational programs, etc.) may be substituted on a one-for-one basis for 2 of the 3 years nuclear experience.
Experience developing training and/or instructing in live and online environments.
Experience performing training evaluation in various operational environments.
Experience as an AP-01000 Preparer for training documents.
Knowledgeable of Integrated Work Management (IWM) and Conduct of Operations (ConOps) procedures.
DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification.
Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Color discrimination, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to hear in a normal range (500 to 3000 htz), standing, walking, typing or keyboarding.
Work Environment: This position will work in an administrative office environment and have the ability to telework. Unescorted access to ALDWP nuclear facilities is required in order to participate in training activities on site, if/when needed.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
