Los Alamos National Laboratory Operations Security Specialist (Security Specialist 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Los Alamos National Laboratory Deployed Security Group is looking for a motivated team player to help identify, develop, and implement capabilities that protect our critical information from exploitation by adversaries. The Operations Security (OPSEC) Specialist will ensure that these protection strategies are implemented throughout the Laboratory and are consistent with LANL and Federal Operations Security (OPSEC) requirements.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to identify critical program information across multiple organizations with different missions.

  • Demonstrated ability to write and implement procedures, policies, guides or other formal documents, demonstrating compliance with security requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative methods for implementing program requirements.

  • Experience interacting effectively with all levels of Laboratory personnel, federal management, and DOE sites.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, or Security related field and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience developing OPSEC awareness products

  • Experience developing OPSEC training

  • Experience conducting assessments or reviews to evaluate implementation of security requirements

  • Active DOE Clearance

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
