What You Will Do
The Strongly Correlated Electron Team at Los Alamos National Laboratory has an immediate opening for an exceptional postdoct performing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments. Our team is the first to discover the 239Pu NMR resonance. First in the Mott insulator PuO2, and very recently in the possible topological insulator PuB4,with a 25% difference in Knight shift between the two compounds. We seek an individual with NMR/NQR experience to build on these results to explore the chemistry and physics of Pu-based materials using this internationally unique and newly acquired capability. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to study strongly correlated materials of interest to our team more broadly. Our multifaceted, highly collaborative team, includes capabilities in sample growth, characterization, device fabrication, measurements under extreme conditions (high pressure and low temperature), photoemission, and neutron scattering, explores new physics through new materials. Our interests include (but are not limited to) strongly correlated materials, unconventional superconductivity, quantum criticality, topological matter, quantum spin systems, heavy fermion physics, low dimensional physics, spin-orbit coupled systems, and new phases of matter. We benefit also from the close proximity of the NHMFL pulsed magnetic field facility and the strong theoretical condensed matter group at Los Alamos.

What You Need
A strong experimental background in NMR and/or NQR. The ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of peers and supervisors. Demonstrated abilities in writing peer reviewed publications.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and the ability to work independently, creatively, and as part of a team. Demonstrated expertise in NMR measurements.
Education: A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent experience within the past five years or soon to be completed is required. The candidate will have completed all Ph.D. requirements by commencement of the appointment.
