What You Will Do
The Network, Infrastructure, and Engineering-Telecommunication Services group (NIE-TS) is seeking an experienced Network Systems Technician 2 to provide support services for the Collaborative Meetings team. NIE-TS provides telecommunication technologies and services enabling science, research programs, and daily operations at LANL. We provide LANL with voice, wireless, data, and video communication services. The selected candidate will be responsible for configuration management and the scheduling of secure and unclassified teleconferencing for the Laboratory's teleconferencing rooms. They will also perform Tier 1 system troubleshooting services for teleconference room systems and Desktop conferencing systems (specifically WebEx and Zoom conferencing).
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
1 to 2 years of relevant experience in the following areas;
Videoconferencing Administrative Support
Experience providing high-level administrative support in a busy environment requiring knowledge of an extensive body of rules and specialized functions, such as complex calendar management, meeting scheduling/logistics, and management of remote meetings.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, including the demonstrated ability to independently interpret data and information to produce advanced Word documents, SharePoint libraries, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
Information Technology Systems
Working knowledge of network/telephony applications and security.
Demonstrated experience with Desktop conferencing systems (WebEx, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Google Meets, etc.).
Demonstrated experience with Video Teleconferencing Systems.
Demonstrated ability to network effectively with other administrators and key contacts outside their own area of expertise, both internal and external to the organization.
Demonstrated ability to calmly manage frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
Ability to complete assignments without established procedures.
Be available, dependable, and punctual.
Perform the role of facilitator when needed.
Additional Technical Skills
Experience with computer network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls and the software associated with these type of devices.
Education/Experience : Position requires a high school diploma and 1-2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This position will require a DOE “Q” clearance

This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
