The Network Professional will be a trusted advisor across functions and organizations and help support servers and applications that provide services and solutions lab wide.

The Network Engineering Team supports the Laboratory developing new systems, applications, and solutions for external customer's emerging technology and architecture including control systems and mobile technology, cyber systems and networks. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work in administering and leading the various solutions and tools that support LANL’s national security and research missions. You will perform a range of duties to help ensure network operations and you may work across the broad technology spectrum spanning routing, wireless, cyber-physical, embedded, mobile, IoT, and large-scale, inter-connected networks. This position requires an expert level professional with an inquisitive, analytical mind that constantly looks for solutions to difficult problems.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Technical Knowledge

Broad and expert technical knowledge of network protocols such as TCP, UDP, and VLANs. Advanced experience with IT network design and operations. The ability to design, plan, and implement local and wide-area network communications systems. Uses highly creative solutions to unusually complex problems.

Technical Communication

Demonstrated ability to clearly convey complicated technology and security concepts to stakeholders at multiple levels and has technical knowledge and/or experience in assessing security controls and advising on alternative solutions for accomplishing mission needs while adhering to NIST standards and DOE/NNSA requirements. Can accomplish these tasks with limited oversight and the ability to demonstrate to junior team members. As a result, excellent communication, diplomacy and interpersonal skills are required.

Collaboration

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to implement new software tools or processes. Can lead problem solving strategies and create networks to tackle unique solutions.

Safety, Security, & Compliance

Expert experience with site security plans. Knowledge of DOE/NNSA policy, orders, and directives related to information security.

Education/Experience : Requires a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field and twelve years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Technical Expertise & Knowledge

Advanced technical knowledge of troubleshooting network related issues including packet capture, log, and policy analysis and working knowledge of NIST 800-82.

Certifications

Current holder of or ability to obtain Security+, CCNA, CCNP, COMSEC, UC, or equivalent certifications.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 -Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
