Los Alamos National Laboratory Metamaterials/Metasurfaces Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do
The Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (MPA-CINT) group is pleased to invite exceptional candidates to apply for postdoctoral positions in active metamaterials/metasurfaces starting immediately.

We are looking for independent and creative candidates with outstanding track record to join our multi-disciplinary research team consisting of senior staffs, postdocs, and students. While the available postdoctoral positions are mainly in experiments, our team efforts include theoretical modeling, numerical simulations, structural designs and fabrications, and free space microwave/terahertz/optical characterizations. Will be expected to make original research contributions to the research program, produce work for publication, and present work at scientific conferences.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • A PhD degreecompleted within the last five years or soon to be completedin Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Material Science orin an appropriate discipline.

  • Demonstrated record of scientific achievement through publications and presentations.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to conduct independent research.

  • Research experience in metamaterials/metasurfaces.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in designing, fabricating, and testing active metamaterials, metasurfaces, and frequency selective surfaces.

  • Previous experience in full-wave electromagnetic simulations using commercial packages or open source codes.

  • Knowledge and experience in microwave/terahertz measurements and characterizations.

  • Strong knowledge and/or experience in electronically reconfigurable and steerable antennas array.

  • Familiarity with nonreciprocal metamaterial and topological photonic crystal is advantageous but not required.
