Job Information

Los Alamos National Laboratory Lead V&V Engineer (R&D Engineer 3/4) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Advanced Simulation & Computing Verification & Validation (ASC-VV) Program in partnership with the Advanced Engineering Analysis Group (W-13) is seeking candidates for the position of Project Leader for Engineering Verification & Validation (EV&V). The EV&V Project develops and guides the application of verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification tools for engineering modeling and simulation at LANL. The project supports responsive weapons development by putting V&V capabilities at the fingertips of engineering analysts and reducing expertise barriers. The successful candidate will programmatically report to the ASC-VV Program Manager (PM) while residing in the W-13 line organization. This position will be filled at either the R&D Engineer 3 or R&D Engineer 4 level depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

R&D Engineer 3 ($113,100 - $190,900)

At the R&D Engineer 3 level, you will be expected to supervise the technical work of project members; develop and execute yearly project plans in coordination with the ASC-VV PM and W-13 line management; communicate with users to identify issues and understand requirements; support program-level strategic planning activities; actively participate in the inter-Laboratory nuclear weapons engineering analysis community; document project results in formal reports and presentations; and leverage capability development across other mission relevant programs. These duties will be carried out in close collaboration with Project Leaders in other programs (including ASC, ETM, DSW, and OES) to ensure alignment between delivered capability and organizational needs.

R&D Engineer 4 ($135,800-$235,600)

In addition to what was described at the R&D Engineer 3 level, at the R&D Engineer 4 level you will be expected to work with program and line management to develop and execute strategic plans aimed at improving overall computational engineering capabilities; serve as a technical mentor to early- and mid-career staff; advise DSW programs on the appropriate use of modeling and simulation in weapon system qualification and related activities; and represent line and/or program management to external stakeholders as needed.
