The Information Sciences and Modeling group (A-1) is looking for a Computing Systems Professional. The successful candidate is expected to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment. The majority of the work performed will be with the Advanced Network Science Initiative (ANSI) team: ANSI performs basic and applied research focused on modeling and understanding the nation's critical infrastructures, such as electric power and natural gas. Our expertise covers statistics, stochastic methods, machine learning, control theory, dynamical systems, discrete and continuous optimization, statistical physics, and graphical modeling. We ensure the scientific and technological validity of our approaches by working closely with physicists, engineers, mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists, and economists through interdisciplinary collaborations. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical Experience & Expertise
Software development proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python, Julia, MATLAB, and/or R.
Knowledge of software development methodologies, tools and processes, including software development methodology framework, source code control, and application development tools and techniques.
Knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client server principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary scientific environment
- Demonstrated ability to work on projects with regular deliverables and hard deadlines
Education/Experience : Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in high performance computing environments, involving implementation of parallel processing algorithms.
Experience with CI/CD, in particular using GitHub Actions and/or GitLab Runners.
Experience implementing current software engineering best practices.
Experience with Agile software project management practices.
Experience developing production-quality websites using current industry best practices.
Specific experience in UI/UX design is a plus.
Experience or coursework in ML/AI, statistical modeling, and/or optimization is also a plus.

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
