The Materials Science in Radiation and Dynamics Extremes group is searching for a postdoctoral candidate with a strong background in metal-hydrogen interactions. The position will involve the study of hydrogen absorption reaction thermodynamics for metals relevant to nuclear energy applications, setup of new equipment to study metal-hydrogen interactions, and fabrication of metal hydrides for advanced nuclear reactor moderator applications. The position will require the candidate to successfully interact with a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful collaborations, scientific achievement, and have displayed exceptional talent in their field.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:

Have a track record of publications and research experience presenting at conferences and meetings
Possess or ability to obtain a Q-clearance, which generally requires US citizenship
Experience studying hydrogen effects in metals
Experience with responses of materials in extreme environments, which can include irradiation, pressure, corrosion, or non-ambient temperature environments
Experience with radioactive, toxic, or air-sensitive materials
Experience with Sievert’s gas absorption
Microstructural characterization experience in the following techniques: X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), or other X-ray or neutron beamline techniques
Thermophysical property measurement experience using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), laser flash analysis (LFA), dilatometry, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)
