What You Will Do_

Become a part of the team that provides leadership in the Laboratory’s core capability of Accelerators and Electrodynamics. Here you will support National Security missions involving radiographic imaging, remote measurements of electromagnetic signatures, and development of new capabilities.

Specifically, as a member of the Hardware Team you will be expected to use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) equipment to produce unique drawings/layouts of components, facilities and/or systems. You will have an exciting opportunity to contribute to completing design packages for complex components, facilities and systems.

Our team uses industry codes and standards to develop specifications, prepare work plans, drawings, and layouts.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Support the maintenance and upgrading of instrumentation and control systems.

  • Prepare quality CAD drawings in compliance with standards.

  • Create and modify schematic drawings using Mentor Graphics Design Capture or DX Designer software.

  • Create and modify printed circuit board designs using Mentor Graphics Expedition PCB software.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop creative, cost effective solutions to systems.

  • Apply technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques in the completion of complex work assignments.

  • Estimate design time and drawing package costs.

  • Apply engineering design principles to design and fabricate components and assemblies.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated operations and maintenance experience at an accelerator or similar large scientific facility.

  • Proficient knowledge of engineering materials and their suitability for component fabrication.

  • Ability to makes materials decisions of design packages.

Education: High school diploma and six to ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
