Los Alamos National Laboratory eSOMS Project Leader (Technical Project Manager 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

You as the team leader of the eSOMS team, which will report to the TA55 Facility Operations Director and will be assigned to a 4-10 schedule on day shift. Will be responsible for all aspects of the implementing and maintaining of eSOMS throughout ALDWP. The eSOMS Project Leader will be responsible for the eSOMS Area Administrators and perform day to day management functions associated with this team. Will work with Hitachi and stakeholders to ensure improvements to the system occur, as well as meeting the needs of the groups utilizing this system. The training and guidance of the eSOMS Area Administrators will be a crucial responsibility of this position. A highly focused, attention to detail oriented, and customer satisfaction mindset is essential to the successful performance of this position.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Professional Level Experience: Advanced record of excellent leadership skills including successful experience in supervising, mentoring, team building and personnel development.

Planning and Organization:

  • Advanced experience establishing a plan and assignment of assets to implement a new process across multiple groups, provide training, and provide improvements to better meet customer needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor a variety of team efforts to completion.

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory requirements related to the assigned project.

Problem Solving: Advanced and demonstrative experience with solving problems, developing solutions, and innovating business practices to ensure customer satisfaction.

Communication: Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, trainings, briefings, and presentations. Demonstrated evidence of cross-organizational interaction with external regulatory or oversight agencies.

Conduct of Operations: Advanced knowledge and extensive experience working under the umbrella of a Conduct of Operations framework. In-depth knowledge of P315 requirements and the impact this has on operations is required.

Teamwork: Experience teaming with multiple organizations to accomplish objectives and demonstrated ability to elicit effective teamwork, including mentoring and motivating team members and peers

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is desired for this level.

Desired Qualifications:

Program/Project Management: Experience in project and program management, including planning, organizing, and resource management.

Nuclear Facility Operations: Background in DOE, Commercial, Navy or Navy Shipyard Nuclear Operations. Knowledge and understanding of Nuclear Facility conduct of maintenance, conduct of engineering, conduct of operations and quality assurance programs.

eSOMS Experience: Expert level of eSOMS user and administrative knowledge is strongly desired.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
