Los Alamos National Laboratory Data Analysis and Reporting Project Lead (Technical Project Manager 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

As a Technical Project Manager (TPM) you will be responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing data analysis and reporting activities related to nuclear materials management. Primary responsibilities include coordinating, integrating, and executing nuclear materials data collection, inventory analysis, reporting, forecasting and data distribution to assist managers in optimizing processing, shipping, storage and disposition of nuclear material. Lead efforts related to nuclear material shipping to include tracking nuclear material disposition records, creating queries, reports, feed lists and performing analysis to support nuclear material disposition. Develop and populate databases or work with document collections related to nuclear materials disposition, support quality data collection and certification, perform software quality assurance testing, participate and lead efforts in work process improvements to meet customer needs. May be required to lead projects and provide direction to others, scheduling, planning, meeting milestones and managing resources. Will also be required to make formal and informal presentation on a regular basis.

Minimal travel and off-site work are required to meet position requirements and will vary depending on mission/project needs. Typical travel locations are other NNSA sites (e.g., LLNL, SNL, and NNSS).

This position involves extensive data management, use of data analysis tools, requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals at various levels in the organization as well as with external establishments.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Data Analysis and Reporting: Demonstrated advanced programming skills and querying capability, including development of technical solutions and approaches. Demonstrated experience with data visualization applications and techniques.

Teaming: Demonstrated experience in developing and fostering successful cross-organizational teams to solve complex problems.

Communication and Customer Interactions: Demonstrated ability to manage customer interface with program and line management to define progress against established milestones as well as excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills as evidenced by public speaking at conferences, presenting briefings to stakeholders, etc.

Project Management: Familiarity with project management of technical or operational work, including developing project plans, managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions.

Education : Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is preferred for this level.

Clearance : Eligible to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

Desired Qualifications:

Nuclear Materials Management: Familiarity with nuclear material inventory data analysis, including planning, trending, reporting and controlling.

Technical Experience Demonstrated knowledge in either of the following :

  • Use of nuclear material databases, such as LAMCAS or LANMAS, including the ability to generate queries and reports.

  • SQL Server Programming

Clearance : Active DOE Q Clearance

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
