What You Will Do
The selected candidate will be a member of the Network & Infrastructure Engineering – Engineering & Security Services (NIE-ESS) group working with the Security Applications Team. This team is responsible for managing various enterprise security applications for the laboratory. The successful candidate will be managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory’s instance of Splunk.
Operational activities of the Splunk application.
Optimizingthe operation and performance of Splunk Indexers, Splunk Search Heads and Forwarders.
Managingdata feeds into Splunk from various laboratory data sources.
Preparing and delivering security presentations to technical colleagues and senior management.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience in system administration of Linux operating systems.
Experience in at least one programming language.
Experience in network administration
Education/Experience: This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a technical field and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Splunk certification or completed Splunk training.
Hands on experience with Splunk, including Splunk Indexers, Splunk Search Heads and Forwarders.
Experience inCyber Security.
Experience with syslog.
Experience with dbConnect.
Experience with REST API.

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion.Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
