What You Will Do
Use your application and security skills to do something truly remarkable in the Secure Networks and Assurances Group in the Weapons Research Services Division (WRS-SNA). WRS-SNA is seeking a motivated individual to provide design, implementation, test and operations support for the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machines located on the LANL secure network in the Prototype Fabrication (PF) Division.
You will work with PF management, engineering staff, technicians, machinists, system managers, institutional network support services, and LANL security groups to provide secure network support for Ardence/Citrix remote boot connectivity for CNC machine tools, resolution of programming issues for the division manufacturing business software, and system administration of high end manufacturing support servers. Specific responsibilities include; design, setup and maintain a high performance cluster of servers running the Ardence/Citrix remote boot system used to provide 24/7 access to classified data for the design information and operation of machining equipment. System downtime has an immediate and direct schedule impact on deliverables.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
For this position, you will need knowledge of the cybersecurity environment, including network and host system concepts, compliance and certification. As well as advanced technical knowledge of classic and contemporary cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and the ability to apply that knowledge to system engineering and operations.
You must have knowledge and experience with machine control systems and understanding of machining processes. Experience working with Ardence streaming remote boot software; Citrix Provisioning Server, Linux, Windows 10 operating systems; SolidWorks, CAMWorks, CREO, PDMLink, JAVA, scripting, network cluster management; SQL Server, JobBOSS, server and desktop environments.
It is important you have the ability to work independently and in a team environment to analyze problems, propose solutions to management, and deploy and document implemented solutions. You must be willing to work in radiation and beryllium areas.
Outstanding written and oral technical communication skills as evidenced by the ability to successfully communicate to a variety of stakeholders and document technical and procedural information.
Policies / Procedures
You will need experience working with cybersecurity policies and procedures at all levels both orally and in writing, addressing policy requirements.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a minimum of 2 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A record of accomplishments in supporting cybersecurity projects in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of and experience working with classified and unclassified computer/cybersecurity requirements of the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), or other U.S. government facilities. Experience monitoring computer systems to ensure compliance with computer security requirements.
Experience with network and software scanning tools
Experience with cyber forensics
DOE “Q” clearance is highly desired
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
