Los Alamos National Laboratory Contractor Assurance Specialist 1 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Quality and Performance Assurance-Performance Assurance (QPA-PA) is seeking a qualified applicant to support the deployment of Contractor Assurance System (CAS) processes at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in accordance with DOE 226.1B. This position will report to a QPA-PA Team Leader.

The Contractor Assurance Specialist 1 will work independently and on project teams within one or more of the following CAS-related areas:

  • Assessments,

  • Lessons learned,

  • Metrics and trending,

  • Risk characterization,

  • Performance improvement and

  • Issues and corrective actions management (including causal analysis and effectiveness evaluations).

Additionally, the Contractor Assurance Specialist 1 will assist with process design and improvement, provide recommended solutions to problems, and contribute to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Experience gathering and analyzing information that is reported and presented to a management team and/or external customer.

  • Experience in effective decision-making and risk management regarding complex technical issues.

  • Excellent customer service skills, including both written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven success working independently and in a team environment, with both internal and external customers.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge in one or more of the following CAS-related areas: assessments; lessons learned; metrics; risk characterization; performance improvement; issues and corrective actions management; or process improvement.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and engage people; and team building skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage personal conflict, negotiate agreements, and build consensus.

  • Working knowledge of LANL organization structure, policies, and procedures.

  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Education:A bachelor's degree and a minimum two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in organizational-level performance-based management, quality, and/or a technical discipline related to area of assignment.

The QPA-PA group is within the QPA Division at LANL. QPA-PA provides LANL managers with the performance-based processes and tools to achieve excellence through continuous improvement while 1) supporting management of risk, 2) enabling safe secure mission delivery, and 3) facilitating accessibility of data for oversight. QPA-PA performs Issues and Corrective Action Management, Lessons Learned Process, Assessments, Corporate Data Analysis and Trending, and Metrics.
