Los Alamos National Laboratory Component Product Scientist (Scientist 4) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do_
Provide technical expertise on a multidisciplinary team in the planning, tracking, and execution of the component assembly and testing production mission with yearly deliverables. Serve as the LANL representative for the production agency: providing the interface with the design agency in order to execute and develop LANL work activities to meet the production and component requirements.
Serve as the primary spokesperson to report project status and issues to the program manager and to laboratory managers. Provide leadership and tactical planning for execution of component assembly and testing production mission and applies a broad technical and operational expertise to achieve the annual deliverables. Provide the strategic leadership to sustain the component assembly and testing production mission. Serve as the expert on the product specification/requirements for a top level assembly.
What You Need
Minimum Job requirements:
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience working with a design agency and other production agencies to participate as technical lead on a product realization team.
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience working with manufacturing execution system (e.g. Solumina) or other electronic sales packages.
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated record of written communication that may include corporate reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, procedure development, or research analysis and other assignments as necessary to meet project objectives.
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience working in a low yield, moderate hazard production and testing facility: developing strategies for equipment upgrades and maintenance, ensuring adequate resources are obtained and maintained without disruption to manufacturing and testing.
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience working with quality and process engineers to ensure that testing requirements are completed on time and within specification.
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience with NAP-24A quality requirements, Defense Programs Business Process System requirements (DPBPS) or WR business practices and requirements.
Proven success working as a leader of a technical team, and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
DOE Order 426.2 requires a BS, 2 years of job related experience, and 1 year of nuclear experience.
Demonstrated experience with vibration, shock, thermal effects, fixture design, equipment design and procurement, aqueous and granular fuel production.
Demonstrated experience with Integrated Contractor Order Schedule (ICO-S) which establishes the product demand for all the agencies.
Demonstrated experience in monitoring and tracking progress. Maintain schedules and quality path towards the production mission.
Demonstrated experience in negotiation to ensure that resources are available to accomplish the work, to identify procurement needs, and to gather resources to complete deliverables within the scope and schedules defined in the project plan.
Demonstrated experience using independent judgment to monitor performance and managing, under change control, the project deliverables.
Typical educational requirement is an advanced degree (Chemistry, Physics or related science field) and 10 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
