What You Will Do
The Human Resources Compensation organization is responsible for providing compensation consulting services to the leadership team at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The consulting services include recommendation, development and implementation of the organization’s salary management systems and processes to retain and motivate a highly qualified and high-performing workforce. In addition, the organization ensures fair and equitable compensation practices that are consistently applied and provide equal opportunity for Laboratory employees that are in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, executive orders, DOE contract requirements, and sound business practices.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Basic understanding of human resources and the analyses of jobs and salaries in order to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, pay for performance and legal compliance of the company's pay practices. Basic knowledge in researching information for compensation-related inquiries.
Basic knowledge of compensation activities such as survey participation, supplemental pay programs, performance management programs, salary offers, and salary planning by collecting and analyzing data.
Demonstrated ability to build productive internal and external working relationships, including successfully collaborating and engaging with other customers/clients, employees, other HR professionals, and managers.
Entry level experience auditing jobs for content and preparing job descriptions, assuring job responsibilities, duties and requirements. Basic experience in assisting in the participation of providing resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data that required a comprehensive review involving many relating factors.
Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job.
Basic experience designing, implementing, and/or administering compensation programs for government, government contractors, and/or large research and development (R&D) organizations.
World at Work certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
Basic experience in HR information systems and/or relational databases supporting compensation (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Access, PeopleSoft, SQL, etc.) and compensation web-based platforms used to perform market pricing (e.g. MarketPay, Payscale, etc.).
Basic quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skill to interpret routine data to identify trends.
Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint software and HRIS systems.

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion.Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
