Los Alamos National Laboratory Classified Network Professional (Network Professional 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Special Security IT and Cyber Operations group (SSO-3) in the Sensitive and Special Operations (SSO) Division is seeking an experienced Network Professional to join our IT Development Team. We are looking for a dedicated IT professional who is inquisitive and has an analytical mind, always evaluating and developing solutions to difficult problems. On the IT Development Team, you will work with an elite team who supports and maintains the Los Alamos National Laboratory Field Intelligence Element (FIE) classified networks.
You will be a trusted advisor, providing leadership and expertise as you collaborate with IT professionals and technicians to resolve network issues and develop solutions. As a subject matter expert, you will perform duties related to implementation and maintenance of LANL’s classified networks, as well as support the operation of LANL FIE networks.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical Knowledge
Advanced knowledge and experience of current network technology including network protocols (IP, BGP, OSPF, PBR, GRE), network infrastructure elements including services and related protocols
Knowledgeable of the 7 Layer OSI Model, LAN Interconnections (Routing, Bridging, Switching), and Basic WAN
Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience managing windows servers and installed applications
Tools and Systems
Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting connectivity issues
Experience and knowledge providing solutions for an extensive and diverse range of complex network problems
Demonstrated experience provisioning & administering network equipment
Experience running network traffic analysis via packet capture software
Technical Communication & Collaboration
Excellent written and oral technical communication skills as demonstrated by ability to communicate complicated technology concepts to key stakeholders and colleagues
Proven track record working as a productive member of an interdisciplinary team, including the demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior technicians and work under minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications:
Technical Experience
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and/or supporting at least three of the following: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, IPSEC, Cisco IOS & NX-OS, Juniper, ACLs and IP subnetting
Demonstrated experience with fiber/copper including (tracing and running cables, types of fiber and associated optics) Cisco devices, and Arista switches
Experience administering and maintaining enterprise-level wireless. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Ethernet, VPN (IPSec, SSL), VoIP, TCP/IP
Experience with installing, configuring, and managing Type 1 IP encryption devices
Tools and Systems
Demonstrated experience with network monitoring tools such as solarwinds, hpna, spectrum, and BMC Remedy or other incident management tools
Experience with Linux administration, network administration, workflow processes, configuration documentation and creating /modifying network Diagrams (Visio, Office)
Experience using LANL, DOE-IN, and/or other federal agency systems
Training & Certifications: Cisco or juniper certifications preferred
Education/Experience : This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of eight years of technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
