Los Alamos National Laboratory Central Work Control Support (Maintenance Support Specialist 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Responsible to the Core Work Control Team Lead and the Core Projects Work Control Team Lead for the development, monitoring, and validation of the accuracy, and auditing of performance data, reports, and other statistical information. Maintains database and other programs as required for use in the development of performance measurements and other required project management functions. Evaluates processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements. Supports project organizational and administrative activities, when delegated. Supervises and provides technical direction for cost engineering and/or planning/scheduling activities, when delegated. Ensures work is completed as scheduled. Identifies trends for management attention. Develops and maintains policies, processes, procedures and provides training in support of the conduct of maintenance program.

Interprets governmental regulations and Laboratory policies affecting the maintenance program to ensure compliance.
Develops, monitors and validates accuracy, and auditing performance data, reports, and other statistical information to ensure compliance with safety, quality, budget and schedule.
Maintains database and other programs as required for use in development of performance measurements and other status reports.
Evaluates and recommends processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements.
Provides issues management support, reviews and compiles data, and develops final management assessments and/or recommendations.
May conduct training for facility maintenance personnel on maintenance program, evaluate, and analyze performance.
Implements related documentation systems and ensures compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications.
May provide formal and informal training in the use of various maintenance program processes, evaluate, and analyze performance.
Performs or assists in performing periodic reviews and assessments to ensure maintenance programs are implemented.
Prepares project control plans and detailed staffing utilization plans for discipline or specialty activities.
Assists in preparing cost/schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations.
Participates in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on-the-job training for specific processes and practices.
Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.
Provides analysis and reports on assigned areas to the project.
May serve as liaison between the Laboratory and various governmental agencies.
Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to maintenance and quality assurance programs.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Full knowledge of and experience with performance assurance metrics.
Full knowledge of and experience with policy and strategy performance assurance, including policy and procedure development, implementation, and enforcement.
Full knowledge of and experience with document control and records management.
Clear understanding of work hazards, safety practices policies and procedures.
Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on complex problems affecting facility maintenance and performance assurance.
Skill to conceptualize and communicate major elements of processes supporting the maintenance program to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports.
Ability to work independently under minimal direction.
Knowledge of and experience with project controls and/or project management, project budgets including cost estimating, cost control and cost analysis, project scheduling, implementation of corrective actions, developing and delivering detailed and accurate status reports and advanced knowledge of and experience with engineering functions and principles required to understand and successfully implement and monitor technical projects.
Full knowledge of the Laboratory's quality assurance policies, practices, and procedures.
Full knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting maintenance management.
Full knowledge of Laboratory business and maintenance program systems.
Education:Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position:Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
