Los Alamos National Laboratory Bioscience Post Bachelor Student in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Bioscience Division is looking for strong post-baccalaureate candidates in the areas of soil microbiology and molecular biology. The selected candidate will work with a team of scientists to understand how soil microbiomes create and maintain variation in carbon flow from decomposition processes.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • General background in biology, soil microbiology and molecular biology

  • Familiarity with good laboratory practices and biological experiment design

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

  • Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative teamenvironment

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques

  • Experience preparing regents for biochemistry/microbiology experiments

  • Experience with sterile technique for culturing fungi and/or bacteria

  • Experience with DNA extraction and PCR

  • Experience with DNA sequence data

Education: A bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, or related technical field obtained at the time of hire or within the past 3 years, but have not yet been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
